When to Upgrade: Signs Your Child Has Outgrown Their Bike

Kids grow fast, and a bike that fit perfectly last season can suddenly feel cramped. Here are five clear signs it’s time to move up a size.
1. Knee-to-handlebar contact: If your child’s knees hit or come very close to the handlebars when pedaling, the frame is too small. 2. Saddle at maximum height: If the seat post is raised to its limit and your child still can’t fully extend their legs, they need a bigger frame. 3. Standing flat-footed is easy: If they can put both feet flat on the ground while seated with the saddle at a reasonable height, the bike is too small. 4. Hunched posture: If they have to lean forward uncomfortably to reach the bars. 5. They’ve grown 8-10 cm: A good rule of thumb — if your child has grown 8-10 cm since you bought the bike, check the fit.
Little Explorer bikes are built to last and hold their resale value well. When it’s time to upgrade, check our full range for the next size up.
